Trump-Vance's Primrose Pro-Choice Path

By E. Ryan Haffner | Oct 02, 2024 at 10:39 PM

Let’s be clear: it’s either murder or it’s not. The problem with the Trump-Vance take on abortion is not its pro-life bent. No, it is pro-choice in a far less principled way than the pro-choice position itself is.

Blame Bill!

By Dennis E. Powell | Sep 18, 2024 at 11:35 PM

There was a time, children, when a presidential election involved a choice between serious people who offered plans, policy proposals, and philosophies.

Amateur Hour Needs to End

By E. Ryan Haffner | Aug 28, 2024 at 11:32 PM

In Vice President Harris’s nomination speech, she labeled President Trump an “unserious man.” She was right, but she should know: she could wear the “unserious” label just fine herself.

It's Worse Than Alvin Predicted

By Dennis E. Powell | Aug 21, 2024 at 10:47 PM

Alvin Lee was a rock-and-roll singer, guitarist, and songwriter of some note. Anyone who has seen the “Woodstock” movie surely remembers him and his band, Ten Years After, performing “I’m Going Home.” It didn’t impart the sense that Lee was high in the intellectual hit parade. But he was at least a talented predictor of future events, as I was reminded this week.

Those Weird Enough to Ignore History

By Timothy R. Butler | Aug 08, 2024 at 9:20 PM

This will be a weird election, but not in the sense of uniqueness. If anything, 2024 is a race to find out who can best ignore recent history and doom the rest of us to repeat the weirdest aspects of it.

A Stark Contrast

By Dennis E. Powell | Aug 07, 2024 at 9:53 PM

“America needs a full-time president, and a full-time Congress,” Nixon said. Just Say No

By Dennis E. Powell | Jul 17, 2024 at 8:50 PM

For a short while a couple of days ago it seemed that it might — just might — be possible for a person of conscience to vote for Donald Trump. But then . . .

By Zippy the Wonder Snail | Jul 16, 2024 at 5:16 PM

Tim and Jason talk about last week’s attempt on President Trump’s life, how we view our political opponents and how we view each other. They also talk about weird changes to our language, mechanical keyboards and a medley of sports subjects, including Caitlin Clark and Cardinals Baseball.

Episode 43: Didn't We Just Talk About Mosquito Season?

By Zippy the Wonder Snail | Jun 26, 2024 at 10:26 PM

The Zippy Crew hits the political pavement with an episode that covers Supreme Court decisions on gun control; American and European election seasons, including the upcoming debate between Presidents Biden and Trump; interesting facts about mosquitos and a look at solid teaching as discussed by the Apostle Paul in his second letter to Timothy.

Trump Isn’t the Savior (and Neither Is A Conviction Against Him)

By Timothy R. Butler | May 30, 2024 at 9:49 PM

I could have written this column, regardless of the outcome. Half the country has put its hopes in an all too human “savior.” Half the country has put its hopes on the defeat of that man. Today marks either a celebration or a catastrophe if one’s hopes rest on the state of President Trump. That tells more of our false hopes than anything else.
